The new 70 I just picked up has a 3 speaker dash. How rare is this option? I have only seen this in one other 69 Charger besides my 70 R/T S.E. that has this option before.
Pretty weird that is abouth the only other option besides a/c, p.s.

A few of the guys at Carlisle had them, but it was the first time I had seen it myself. TX9Charger and Chris have them I believe...

Are you guys talking about a day with a spot for the center speaker and for the two side speakers, or a dash that has all three speakers installed?

999s has the 3 speaker dash - just speaking of cars that were there.
I put together the most glorious game plan of what I would zone in
on & pay attention to once I got back to Carlisle on that Saturday -
this was during the night before. Alas, never made it back.......

Mine also has the 3 speaker dash. My file's in a mess at the moment,
so not sure of the code - but it is here on the site in both base, both
500 & R/T option code sections. So, once you find the code just go
through each section & add up the totals! Now, don't forget that the
Coronet & Plymouth B bodies had some of our options available too.

So,parts are out there!

I too have the 3-speaker dash. Just went down to the crawlspace to confirm. All 3 speakers still there. I kind of thought it was an option as many of the dash photos I've seen do not have all three.
I'm about to begin restoring the dash so I might modernize the "behind the scenes" hardware, retaining the stock look.

Hey Pentastar! 999 has a thread somewhere around here that shows he has
done just that: Sourced cool replacement speakers that fit in the original housings!

I'm just sneekin in comments during movie pauses with the wife. Should be
up to actual info or at least links tomorrow.

Anyone convert a car from a single to a 3 speaker dash? Have a pattern or dimensions? My buddy is interested in the second set up I have in the car I picked up & already have a 3 speaker in my other 70. I know it would be easier to just switch the entire dash but the whole VIN # thing.

I just happened to come in the house and spotted your post. I've been standing out in the hot sun sandblasting my dash. I shot a couple of photos. Hopefully they will be helpful.

I have a 3 speaker dash also . sent the oem round speakers to be reconed to Year one.

I tried a bunch of new speakers, the problem is that the new magnets are too big to fit in the wedge of the dash.

Pioneer TS-877 will fit in the dash speaker holes. And while were here Pioneer TS-A6880R, a 6x8 will fit in the rear paskage tray like factory. I have both of these speakers in my car.

Thanks for that Bill. Takes the guesswork out of it for me. Now I'll probably find that they have been discontinued.

You're welcome Murray.

I didn't like the speaker showing through the grill.

So I went to a fabric shop & bought a material called batting. You'll find it under furniture to hide the springs & such. I glued it to the speaker & to me it looks better. You can't tell it's an aftermarket speaker & stuff won't fall down and around into the speaker. And if you run your own speaker wire be sure & mark the polarity of the speaker wires cause you can't get to or see the speaker once it's in.

My original speakers still have the factory ( I guess) batting. not in very good shape. The speakers themselves are pristine.
Off topic here, but did you do anything to restore your V.I.N. plate?
Mine has zero rust or corrosion but the paint is a bit worn off on the high spots of the numbers. I am tempted to mask off the Chryco logo and paint the rest, or I could just clean it and leave it. ahum

Murray my VIN tag was in pretty good shape but not perfect...I left it alone, pretty much the only think on my car not restored.
